From the Archdiocese:

This week the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) has published its report on the Archdiocese of Birmingham.
We apologise to all victims and survivors of child sex abuse. We hope that with this Inquiry they feel that they have been listened to. Even so, words are not enough.
We are committed to continuing to improve our safeguarding procedures and to listen to and learn from victims and survivors. Past failings must never happen again.

The diocesan response to the report can be found at https://www.birminghamdiocese.org.uk/

If you have a safeguarding matter to report please contact the Archdiocese safeguarding team on 0121 230 6240 or via email: safeguarding@rc-birmingham.org.

Maintenance matters: We have recently received the Quinquennial Inspection Report for the parish which outlines all the work required on the church, hall, and house. It is quite an extensive list! The situation regarding the recladding of the hall is that, unfortunately, full planning permission is required. The planning authority has indicated that they will not accept UPVC cladding so we are having to go with steel instead (same colour as at present). The cost is approximately the same. Due to the delay in getting planning permission, we now hope the work will be done during the school half term in the Autumn.

Congratulations! Deacon Jim celebrates the 34th anniversary of his ordination to the diaconate today.
