Canonisation of Blessed John Henry Newman The Archdiocese of Birmingham is preparing to celebrate the canonisation of Blessed John Henry Newman on Sunday 13 October. Archbishop Bernard says Together with everybody in the Archdiocese of Birmingham, I am delighted with the recent news about the forthcoming canonisation of Blessed John Henry Newman. While this is news of international and national significance, it has a particular importance within the Archdiocese of Birmingham.”

Marriage and Engaged Couples Encounter Weekends aim to give couples who are married or in long-standing relationships the opportunity to enrich and refresh their relationships. Engaged Encounter provides couples who are engaged to be married with a formal course in marriage preparation. Engaged Encounter weekend: 12–13 October. Marriage Encounter weekend: 22–24 November. For details see wwme.org.uk

Collect your envelope If you are on any of our rotas and haven’t filled in a GDPR form, please do so as soon as possible. Those who have not done so will find an envelope with their name on it at the back of the church. If you are not sure whether you did or didn’t, have a look. If there’s no envelope there for you, you’ve already done it!

Can you help every couple of weeks by giving about half an hour to clean the brass in the church (around the font, the tabernacle and sometimes the candles)? It won’t take long and it helps to spread the workload.

Loving Father, you renew your church in every age by raising up priests outstanding in holiness, living witnesses of your unchanging love. Grant we pray that our new Parish Priest may be filled with spirit of courage and love so that, by his guidance and example, your holy people here in this place may be blessed by your abundant grace and so become worthy witnesses to the Gospel of Jesus your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen.

Holy Mary, Mother of God: pray for us.
St Joseph: pray for us.
St John Vianney: pray for us.
